“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? While it’s part of human nature to form opinions based on the acts and actions of those around us, Jesus warned us against making rash and pointed judgments about others while our own lives are far less than perfect. When we place our focus on bringing the righteousness of Christ to every part of our lives rather than finding fault in the journeys of others, we see the world with a new, clearer perspective.

This is so true! I have jumped to conclusions about people and have been so wrong. As a result, I try to see people through His eyes, asking Him to send His Holy Spirit to clean my human lenses–Lord knows they are soiled as I try to see others through my mess. When I ask, I receive. Blessings!
I have two philosophies on this great topic. 1.) Never judge another’s journey in the Lord… I have no idea what He’s doing. and 2.) Always believe the best about people… no matter what things “look” like… I, most of the time, have no idea what’s really going on in their life.
These two things have kept me free from judgement and kept me focused on Christ. And more importantly, my responses to people are less emotional and more Spiritual.

This is a scary scripture. When I think about judging myself as harshly as I judge others, I cringe. Thanks, Phil. I needed this simple reminder.
Good reminder. My mom always encouraged us to only say good things – remember what Thumper the Rabbit said in Bambi – and not to judge others. Amazing how easy I can slip away from that… thanks Phil

We don’t truly know what kind of journey someone else is on or what God is doing on their lives, it may look one way but is alltogether something different, when we look at people through the lens of Jesus our perspective changes, it becomes clearer.
